Dr. Aubrey Traina

Dr. Traina is a New Orleans native and was thrilled to join our team in the late summer of 2024. She enjoys treating all exotic companion animals and has a special interest in avian and aquatic species, especially axolotls! She recently received her aquatic animal veterinary certification (Cert AqV) through the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association this past March and is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA). She practices acupuncture on all small animal companion animals (which includes exotics, cats and dogs!)

Dr. Traina graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020, and she went on to complete a one-year internship at SEAVS, an exotics-exclusive practice outside of Washington, D.C. She stayed on another year at that practice, before deciding to continue her journey to New England in the fall of 2022. She worked just outside of Boston just shy of 2 years, until her recent move, here to beautiful New Hampshire! She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, the American Association of Fish Veterinarians and the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association.

Prior to and during veterinary school, Dr. Traina spent seven years as a technician at Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital of Louisiana. While in veterinary school, she also received her certified veterinary acupuncturist license from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2019. Throughout veterinary school, she volunteered with the Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana, caring for and rehabilitating raptors and wildlife. During veterinary school, she also immersed herself in a fish research project and spent time externing at Island Dolphin Care in Key Largo, FL. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry from the University of New Orleans in 2014.

When she’s not working, Dr. Traina enjoys volunteering with the New England Aquarium, scuba diving, New Orleans Saints football, and is excitedly completing her goal of trying all the lobster rolls New England has to offer! Her home menagerie includes a German shepherd, 2 cats, axolotls, and a crested gecko.
